Maximized Learning in Literacy



Columbia will establish and implement a system for quality, effective literacy instruction
  1. Professional development will be provided to staff on the Big Five Ideas and Components of Effective Literacy Instruction.
  2. Professional development will be provided with a narrowed focus on Daily Five centers and Fluency. 
  3. Columbia Staff will participate in all literacy professional development provided by LCPS and will implement systems as they are introduced (ie: staff will begin guided reading, using the lcps protocols, as soon as the pd is rolled out)
  4. Implementation of effective literacy instruction, as rolled out by LCPS, will be monitored and supported during CWTs and during feedback conferences.
  5. Continued support and professional development will be provided during data meetings, Toolbox Tuesdays, feedback conferences, staff meetings, Priority Team meetings and TLC meetings.
