Rigorous Relevant Assessments

Hold staff meeting to begin the conversation around assessment.
Conduct the Data-Driven Instruction and Assessment Implementation Rubric (P.Bambrick-Santoyo, 2010) at our first Turnaround Leadership Council “retreat”.

Admin will present Principals of Assessment:  (A. Romero, 2010) Objective is to analyze assessment questions to understand that standards are meaningless until you define how to assess them.  And, how to identify the key principals of assessment.

Ninety- minute data meetings will focus more on teacher reflection through the established data forms.  Conversation will focus on pre-test questions that will be the roadmap for our instruction.  As well as post-test data to reflect on the instruction that lead to the final results.  The data forms will be incorporated at Feedback meetings and monitoring will be offered by Principal, AP, IS

TLC will work together to develop a rubric for rigorous assessments. PD will be provided on the rubric at our Saturday assessment training.

4      Analysis team will do a book study on "Visible Learning" by John Hattie to establish a system to identify the “effect size” of an activity.

5      After the book study is conducted by Analysis team, we will begin a PD with Classroom teachers on the importance of instructional activities that only yield a high “effect size”.

Classroom Walkthroughs will focus on: Wow, Wonder, correlation between lesson plan/schedule/activity;  learning pyramid, rigor of lesson
